Adjusters, When are Consultants Required? - Better Understanding Your Needs.

There are many cases when environmental consultants are viewed as added costs instead of added value. What purpose do environmental consultants serve in your projects? The ultimate question is: who wants to carry the liability and who represents your insurance company when you are not on site? 

The contractor carrying out abatement or remediation cannot dictate the extend of the project without some bias, as their revenue is directly correlated to the size of the scope of work. The contractor also does not want to carry the liability documenting scope of work of carrying liability on the scope of work designed. 

The environmental consultant represents your (adjuster's) best interests by ensuring the appropriate scope of work is designed and carries the liability should the worst-case ever happen. It is best to have an environmental consultant in the know at the beginning of a project just to inform them of the intended work even if one is not apparently required at the time. Best case, you will be able to refer back to the consultant who is aware of the project from day one.
