OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY TECHNICIAN

Insurance & Emergency Restoration Division

 

Safetech Environmental Limited is currently seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our team at Head Office in Mississauga to support our Insurance & Emergency Restoration Division.  In this role, the individual will work within a multi-disciplinary team to provide inspection and testing services primarily for the insurance industry, focusing on claims related to water damage and fire damage.  This is an excellent opportunity to work “hands-on” on interesting and challenging projects in a wide range of environments.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide site inspections and conduct testing for the evaluation and remediation of mould, water damage, fire damage and hazardous building materials (asbestos, lead, silica, etc.).
  • Use air and surface sampling equipment and interpret results to evaluate conditions with respect to mould, sewage contamination, asbestos, fire-related contaminants, etc.
  • Inspect work areas and provide direction to restoration contractors to ensure proper completion of restoration.
  • Prepare scopes of work for restoration projects and written assessment, inspection and post-restoration close-out reports
  • Report to and take direction from Project Managers and Project Coordinators

 

 

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work flexible hours (after hours, weekends, holidays)
  • Valid G driver's license and own transportation
  • Good computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office and Google Docs
  • Able to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced, client-focused environment
  • Past  experience in environmental consulting or work in emergency restoration industry considered an asset
  • Knowledge of building construction and pertinent regulations / guidelines considered an asset
  • IICRC certifications as Water Damage Restoration Technician (WRT), Advanced Microbial Remediation Technician (AMRT) and Fire & Smoke Restoration Technician (FSRT) considered an asset

OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY TECHNICIAN

Hazardous Building Materials Division

 

Safetech Environmental Limited is currently seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our team at Head Office in Mississauga to support our Hazardous Building Materials Division.  In this role, the individual will work within a multi-disciplinary team to provide inspection and testing services associated with the identification, management and safe removal of hazardous building materials (such as asbestos-containing and lead-containing materials) and other hazards such as mould.  This is an excellent opportunity to get hands-on field experience in a variety of built environments while learning to communicate findings and issues with a number of different stakeholders.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Conduct field work for the identification and assessment of hazardous materials such as asbestos, lead, silica, mould, etc.
  • Inspect hazardous materials remediation work areas and provide direction to remediation contractors to ensure compliance with appropriate standards, guidelines and regulations.
  • Conduct air monitoring for asbestos and analysis of air samples by phase contrast microscopy (PCM)
  • Conduct bulk, air and surface sampling for a variety of hazardous materials using a number of different sampling methods and equipment
  • Prepare scopes of work for remediation projects and written assessment, inspection and post-remediation close-out reports
  • Report to and take direction from Project Managers and Project Coordinators

Junior Environmental Technician

Environmental Services Division

 

Safetech Environmental Limited is currently seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our team at Head Office in Mississauga to support our Environmental Services Division.  In this role, the individual will work within a multi-disciplinary team to provide field-related assessment and testing services.  This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience related to the identification and remediation of environmental contaminants in sediment, soil, and water within a progressive team of environmental science and engineering professionals.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Perform Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments
  • Sediment, soil, groundwater, and drinking water quality testing
  • Surface swab sampling
  • Environmental site remediation oversight
  • Well response testing and hydrogeological investigations
  • Prepare written technical reports
  • Report to and take direction from Project Managers and Environmental Engineers


Requirements:


  • Post-secondary education in Environmental Sciences or a related field
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid G driver's license and own transportation
  • Good computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office and Google Docs
  • Able to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced, client-focused environment
  • Past experience in environmental consulting considered an asset
  • Eligibility to obtain, or currently having CET designation
  • Knowledge of applicable environmental regulations considered an asset
